Why Specialized Layouts Matter for Garages
Every room has a different purpose, and your lighting should reflect that. While the math of spacing (Ceiling Height / 2) remains a good baseline, adjusting for the specific needs of a garage is crucial.
Garages need lumens! Don't be afraid to use a tighter grid or higher lumen bulbs (1000lm+) in a garage. You want to see every detail when you're working on repairs or parking your car.
General Spacing Rules Apply
Regardless of the room, the core principles of our calculator still stand:
- Avoid the Corners: Keep lights at least 2-3 feet away from corners to avoid wasting light.
- Wall Offset: Aim for the distance from the wall to be half the distance between lights.
- Ceiling Height: Higher ceilings need tighter spacing or brighter bulbs to reach the floor effectively.
