Why Specialized Layouts Matter for Bedrooms
Every room has a different purpose, and your lighting should reflect that. While the math of spacing (Ceiling Height / 2) remains a good baseline, adjusting for the specific needs of a bedroom is crucial.
For bedrooms, try to position lights away from directly overhead the bed pillow area. This prevents you from staring directly into a bulb when you wake up or lie down.
General Spacing Rules Apply
Regardless of the room, the core principles of our calculator still stand:
- Avoid the Corners: Keep lights at least 2-3 feet away from corners to avoid wasting light.
- Wall Offset: Aim for the distance from the wall to be half the distance between lights.
- Ceiling Height: Higher ceilings need tighter spacing or brighter bulbs to reach the floor effectively.
